Why A Dozen Yellow Roses? Every year on my birthday, Joe gifts me with a dozen yellow roses. To some, this might seem odd for a husband to gift to his wife–after all, yellow roses to many embody friendship and not romance. In our case, he does so because yours truly was born on an army base in Texas (key, ‘The Yellow Rose of Texas’ song), but also what could be more romantic than friendship in marriage. For us, friendship is the cornerstone of lasting love. Whenever I see a yellow rose I think of Joe and have even had one tattooed on my arm now.
